Can you feel the salt drying and pulling at your skin? And the sun heating it until it becomes almost unbearable?
For me, coral is exactly that: the memory of diving into the sea, the feeling of lightness that salt water gives you. And a sun so strong that you can see it even with your eyes closed.
The summer I turned twenty, I made some coral and silver jewellery, and the following winter I took it with me on my Erasmus trip to Nord Pas de Calais. I don't remember wearing it, coral isn't a winter material, but I do remember opening my jewellery box on the coldest days and caressing it, closing my eyes to bring back the memories.
With this series of bracelets, rings and earrings, I repeated the same gesture, translating into ceramics the effect of the sun on my closed eyelids and the smile that comes to my lips when I remember it.
